Travel to the Canary Islands

The Canary Islands are predominantly connected to Spain, but also has strong connections with the rest of Europe and the African coast. There is not much distance between the Canaries and Africa. It takes around two days by sea to reach the closest point of Spain via ferry.

This is the port at Cadiz. You can fly directly from Madrid to almost any of the Canary Islands, apart from Gomera which has no airport. It is fast and very easy to reach any of the Canary Islands from inside the archipelago. You can travel from Tenerife to El Hierro by ferry in only a few hours.
