Introductions to Tangier

Located near the Strait of Gibraltar at northern Morocco, Tangier is a major gateway to Africa and a fascinating multicultural city. Featuring a long and fascinating history, the area has served as a Berber, Phoenician and Roman settlement respectively, a Portuguese and French colony, as well as an international city after WW2.

Divided into the old quarter (medina) and the recent part of the city (ville nouvelle), it offers a lovely fusion of oriental charm and sophisticated modernity. Scenic alleys, traditional bazaars, lovely beaches and stylish galleries draw tourists from all over the globe to this gorgeous Moroccan town.

Although Morocco is an Islamic country alcohol is widely sold and served in Tangier, its nightlife scene including restaurants, bars and clubs which cater to both foreigners and the local population.
