There is almost no public transport on the island. There exists however a reliable, albeit expensive, taxi system in Langkawi, which operates on a fixed price system. That is to say, the fare between any two parts of the island is the same. The only other option for visitors to travel around the island is to rent a car or a scooter/motorbike or a bicycle.
While there are a lot of taxis and car rentals available to help you get around Langkawi, it is best to rent a motorcycle or a bicycle instead to take in the marvelous scenery. Just make sure you don’t forget to wear your helmet.
