Introduction to Sun Island

Isla del Sol (“Island of the Sun”), also commonly known as Sun Island, is part of Bolivian territory. It is the largest island on Lake Titicaca. This beautiful island is believed to be the birth place of the Inca Empire and is famous as an ancient holy site of the Inca.

Among the ruins found on the island, the famous ones are the Sacred Rock, Kasa Pata ,a labyrinth-like building called Chicana and Pilco Kaima.

Sun Island can be easily reached from Copacabana by a boat. It is a perfect destination for those looking to get away from the city hustle bustle. Travelers enjoy the quiet and tranquility of the place with no noise or motorized traffic.
